Endotoxins
are components that can contaminate our surroundings due to the proliferation
of free-living bacteria that multiply rapidly because they require very few
nutrients. They are toxins closely associated with the living cytoplasm or cell
walls of certain microorganisms, which do not actually diffuse in the culture
medium, but are released by the cells themselves.
Endotoxin Test
Endotoxin test typically involves the use of reagents that, when mixed in a
solution with a possible contaminant, causes a reaction signifying the presence
of an endotoxin.There are various scientific methods that are employed such as:
Chromogenic Test, Gel Coagulation Test and Turbidimetric Test are commonly used
for endotoxin test.
These evaluation methods are used by Bioanalysts on a variety of substances and
objects to check for endotoxin contamination.

detect, identify, and enumerate microorganisms. Microbiological or

Molecular Biology Lab Services
The Molecular Biology laboratory is in charge of the detection of
phytopathogens that cannot be detected by traditional techniques, so molecular
tools have to be used. PCR techniques are performed for phytopathogens with DNA
genome, RT PCR for RNA phytopathogens and endotoxin test.
The laboratory uses different techniques according to the phytopathogen which
is suspected to be present. Subsequently, the concentration and quality of the
nucleic acid are verified, and finally the end-point PCR or Real-Time PCR test,
or its variant of Reverse Transcription PCR (RT PCR), is performed, verifying
the result of the presence or absence of the phytopathogen by means of
electrophoresis.
